While handles may seem totally insignificant in a massive kitchen remodel or build, they could become a seamless addition or the biggest eyesore to your project. There are an array of handles and knobs that you can use to enhance the beauty and functionality of your kitchen. Choosing the right one or narrowing down your selection can be difficult. That’s why with a simple few tips we can help you order the perfect fit.

Blend styles:

What style is your kitchen; modern, contemporary, rustic, country, all white? Take some time to dissect where your kitchen design falls and blending your style with a handle won’t seem as daunting.

Tip: Pinterest or Instagram can be a helping hand in exploring your taste and style; while also giving you a cheat sheet to your dream kitchen.

An all black kitchen can be accompanied by handleless fixtures, with push to open hinges that can create the ultimate silhouette and streamlined finish. Or you can pair it with a pop of colour, such as using our 5075 handle in Satin Brass. Using metals like gold or antique copper can lighten up a darker kitchen.

Be Bold:

When adding bolder colours to a kitchen be aware of the exisiting colour scheme and style of your kitchen. Using accent metals like brass, gold, chrome and copper may not suit every kitchen, or it may quickly date if it is a current trend. Using other accent features like lighting, chairs or appliances can help blend your colour scheme and make the kitchen look effortlessly cohesive.

Practicality vs Style

We’re all guilty of falling head over heels with the look of something and casting all doubts to the side. In the heart of the home; a place of constant use, the last thing you need is impractical handles. Handles and knobs, don’t have to be a this or that decision. Using knobs on drawers and cabinets, while placing handles on larger cupboards may help the use of certain areas of the kitchen. For instance, choosing one handle may cause a problem, if it looks too oversized on smaller cabinets or too small on larger cabinets. Ensure that both fixtures complement one another, you can do this by keeping the colour and style consistent.

Appliances; who would have thought?

Matching your handles to your cabinetry seems obvious, but what abut your appliances? Many appliances often come in stainless steel or can be altered to suit your design. So, while choosing a bold copper may ignite your inner design flare - it may look out of place against a steel oven. Consider carefully when choosing appliances, you can now often choose the finish of appliances and order in advance. So why not match your appliances to your style and handles instead.

However, keeping a few pointers at the front of your mind will ensure you don’t regret your design selection. If you want an electric yellow fridge with matching matt black fixtures, go for it.
